Nancy, our system of government has checks and balances: the executive branch (President), the legislative branch (Congress) and the judicial branch (Supreme Court/lower courts). This was BY DESIGN to disallow a concentration of power in the Presidency; much different from the scenario you painted.

The President isn’t the equivalent to the ‘owner of a business.’

Congress SCREWED UP with regards to handling of Fannie/Freddie - and the guilty participants had a ‘D’ after their names…

Face it, Obama is going to be your President. YOUR commander and chief. And what goes on with his administration is his business and responsibility. Including congress. He has the ultimate power as the President. Its obvious you’ve never owned a business. What happens with a company always falls on the shoulder ultimately of the CEO. Rather he had direct involvement or not. The same with the President. If it happens under his roof or during his time he’s responsible.

Well, Nancy, you’re wrong; I wouldn’t blame President-elect Obama….

George Bush is the President - not the ‘boss.’

He might take the blame - because that’s the nature of the media and Congress - but he CAN’T control what Congress does (except through the veto, which Congress can override); he can only advise and go before the American people.

He’s the boss. The head of the house. If he can’t keep his own house in order then he shouldn’t be running it. Basic rules of economics. The captain, business owner,..boss, CEO, chief will always take the blame. You know why? Because if he’s responsible, he’ll realize that all of it was his responsibility in the end. I bet if Obama was in the white house you’d blame ever red cent on him. I would bet my life on that.

Whose ideas lead to economic disaster?

We ARE experiencing tough economic times.

The American people spend too much on their credit cards (which Palin bravely indicated in the VP debate, I might add).

Congress spends WAY TOO MUCH every year…but it’s not THEIR money, so they TRULY don’t care.

Congress then enacts HORRENDOUS public policies (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) giving loans to people who can’t afford them.

Put these ingredients together and you have a recession.

Bush’s fault? No.
