Can you grow a lipstick plant from a cutting of one?

I love lipstick plants, and my relative gave me a cutting of hers. If they can grow from cuttings, how do you do it and how long does it take?

Sure you can, I always grow my cuttings direct in soil instead of water rooting. Get a small pot, 3 or 4", and put in some potting mix. Water it well, then stick the cutting in, putting at least the first set of leaves at the soil, or even under it a bit, since this is where the roots will come from.

Keep it moist, provide bright, filtered light, and it will be rooted in about 3 weeks, maybe less.

  1. If this is the plant then you can propagate from a cutting.

I've grown a lot of lipsticks, and other gesneriads, from cuttings.
